Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 27 April 2026
Welcome to thejunglesafari.com (the "Website"), owned and operated by The Jungle Safari, a sole proprietorship of Varun Chopra. We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our Website or make bookings for safaris, hotels, and resorts through our platform.
We work with independently operated lodges, resorts, and safari operators near each park. We do not own these properties; we facilitate bookings on your behalf and pass on the supplier's terms.
Information We Collect
We may collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, billing address, and payment information when you make bookings or inquiries on our Website. Additionally, we may collect non-personal information such as your IP address, browser type, and device information for analytical and security purposes.
Use of Information
We use the information collected to process your bookings, respond to inquiries, improve our services, and personalise your experience on our Website. We may also use your information to communicate with you about your bookings, promotions, and updates related to The Jungle Safari.
Lawful basis for processing
For visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR Article 6) requires us to name a lawful basis for each purpose. For Indian residents, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act 2023) recognises equivalent grounds. The table below sets out the basis we rely on for each processing activity.
- Booking fulfilment. Handling inquiries, preparing quotes, confirming bookings, and coordinating with lodges and operators is processed on the basis of performance of a contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b); equivalent under DPDP Act for the performance of a contract with you).
- Marketing communications. Sending newsletters, follow-ups, or promotional offers is processed only on the basis of consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a); equivalent under DPDP Act). You can withdraw consent at any time by replying "unsubscribe" to any marketing email or by writing to us.
- Analytics (when enabled). Aggregated, privacy-preserving analytics is processed on the basis of legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used and improving it (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). You can opt out at any time via the cookie banner or the "Manage cookies" link in the footer.
- Tax and legal records. Retaining booking and payment records is processed on the basis of compliance with a legal obligation under Indian tax law (GDPR Article 6(1)(c); equivalent obligations under the DPDP Act and the Income-tax Act, 1961).
- Security and fraud prevention. Detecting abuse, blocking malicious traffic, and protecting the Website is processed on the basis of legitimate interest in keeping the Website and our customers safe (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
International data transfers
The Jungle Safari is based in India. Some of the services we use to run this Website are hosted outside India. The list below names each transfer destination and the safeguards we rely on (information disclosed under GDPR Article 13(1)(f) for EU and UK visitors, and the corresponding cross-border-transfer disclosures under the DPDP Act for Indian residents).
- Static site hosting and edge delivery (Vercel Inc.). Pages, images, and fonts are served from Vercel's global edge network. EU and UK traffic is served from Vercel's European edge points of presence; other regions may be served from US edge points of presence. Transfers are covered by Vercel's Data Processing Addendum, which incorporates the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where applicable.
- Inquiry email delivery. When you submit a form, the resulting email is delivered to our mailbox in India via the email provider's transit network. The mailbox itself is operated by us and stored on infrastructure located in India.
- Future analytics and advertising (Google). If and when we enable Google Analytics 4 or Google Ads, traffic from the EEA and UK will be served by Google Ireland Limited (Ireland), with onward transfers to Google LLC (United States). Those onward transfers rely on the European Commission's SCCs and Google's certification under the EU-US and UK-US Data Privacy Framework, where applicable. We will only enable these services after you grant analytics or marketing consent.
- Self-hosted fonts. Fonts are served from our own domain. There is no third-party transfer at runtime; nothing about your visit is shared with a font CDN.
If you would like more detail on any of these transfers, write to us at booking@thejunglesafari.com and we will share the relevant data processing agreement on request.
Disclosure of Information
We may share your booking details with the lodge or operator handling your stay so they can fulfil the booking. We share only what is necessary for fulfilment, such as your name, contact information, travel dates, and any preferences relevant to your stay.
Security
We take the security of your personal information seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect it from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
Cookies and tracking
This Website uses a consent system based on Google Consent Mode v2. Necessary cookies for site function are always on; analytics and advertising storage default to denied until you grant consent.
At the time of this policy version, this Website does not load Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, the Meta pixel, or any third-party advertising trackers. When we add analytics or advertising tags in the future, they will respect your stated preference from first load.
Full details and per-category breakdown are on our Cookie Policy page. You can change your preferences at any time via the "Manage cookies" link in the footer.
Tracking services we use or plan to use
We have not yet installed any analytics or advertising tracking on this Website. The list below names the services we expect to install and how each will behave once active. Each service will respect your consent choice from the moment it loads. We will refresh this section and bump the consent version when any tag goes live.
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4). When we install GA4, it will set first-party analytics cookies (such as
_gaand_ga_*) and record page views, events, and approximate location only after you grant analytics consent. You can opt out at any time by installing the official browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout or by withdrawing consent through the "Manage cookies" link in the footer. - Google Ads conversion tracking. When we install the Google Ads conversion tag, it will set conversion cookies (such as
_gcl_*) only after you grant marketing consent, and will record events such as form submissions and trip inquiries to attribute them to ad clicks. No tag fires before consent. - Google Remarketing. When we install Google Remarketing, it will allow us to show relevant ads to people who have already visited the site, only after you grant marketing consent. You can manage and opt out of personalised ads at adssettings.google.com.
- Third-party advertising cookies. If we run remarketing or display campaigns through Google's network (which uses domains such as
doubleclick.net), the related cookies will be set only after you grant marketing consent.
Data retention
We keep different types of data for different periods, based on what each is used for and on Indian record-keeping requirements.
- Consent records. Your cookie-consent choice is stored in your browser via localStorage for 12 months. After 12 months we ask again, and we also bump the version and re-prompt whenever the categories or purposes change.
- Analytics data. When GA4 is active, raw event data is retained at Google's GA4 default of 14 months. Aggregated reports stay accessible beyond that.
- Inquiry submissions. Forms you submit (the homepage quick form and the Plan Your Safari builder) are retained for the lifetime of our relationship with you, plus 3 years after the last interaction to satisfy Indian tax-law record-keeping requirements for any associated invoices.
- Booking and accounting records. Where a booking is made, related invoices and accounting entries are retained for 8 years from the end of the relevant financial year, in line with Indian tax law.
Your rights
You have the following rights in relation to your personal information held by us:
- Access. Ask us what personal data we hold about you and request a copy.
- Correction. Ask us to fix anything that is inaccurate or out of date.
- Deletion. Ask us to delete your data, subject to records we are required to keep for tax or legal reasons.
- Portability. Ask for a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used format.
- Withdrawal of consent. Change or withdraw your cookie consent through the "Manage cookies" link in the footer at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, write to us at booking@thejunglesafari.com. We will respond within a reasonable period, typically 30 days. For Indian residents, this Website is governed by the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act 2023); the rights described above are aligned with that framework.

Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information from our systems.
